Declutter your spaces and maximize your productivity

Clutter and its Impact:

Are you struggling to relax and concentrate? Are you undergoing decision fatigue and poor decisions? Do you feel a lack of control over your surroundings? Are there constant conflicts in your relationships and family? Do you feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities? If yes, then look around your surroundings and spaces. This is the clutter that is having a significant impact on your life affecting your emotions, behavior, and mental health. It is the visual chaos that is not letting you relax and concentrate. It is the cluttered space that is overwhelming your brain making it harder to filter out irrelevant information for proper decision-making. It is the clutter that symbolizes the lack of control over one’s environment. It is the clutter that makes you unheard and raises conflicts. So let us take a journey to free ourselves from clutter to maximize our potential.

Decluttering journey:

Decluttering your home is highly important as it will relax you for more productivity. But it is hard and time-consuming. I have tried to declutter and organize my house many times but I end up exhausted. This time I came up with a solution to every decluttering problem, so I enjoyed setting up my house. Therefore, to reap the maximum benefits of decluttering, I will guide you through the steps that I have used.

Principle of letting go:

“The first step in crafting the life you want is to get rid of everything you don’t.’’ – Joshua Becker.

The first step is to get rid of any unused items, duplicates, and unnecessary items. If you have not used any item in 2 years and you still think you will use it in the future then get rid of it immediately. If items are in good condition, you can donate them to charities or sell them in thrift stores. Check which items you can throw away and which ones need to recycle. Adapt the environmentally friendly strategy for the items. Be ruthless in your decisions, and don’t hold on to things emotionally.

Giving Everything a Home:

The second step is to give home to everything you own. Yes, you heard it right. My pen and diary also got a home. After writing I will put it back to its home where it belongs. In this way, you will be able to find things quickly without wasting a second fully in charge of your time, reducing the frustrations of finding out things.

Cabinet Setting:

The third step is to maximize your space by using your cabinets efficiently. Use the dividers within the cabinets to use those spaces. In less storage space you could smartly store much so the place around you looks spacious and neat. Here is a list of things you could use to efficiently organize your drawers:

Closet shelves for maximum storage for shoes, clothes, or toys

Under sink organizer to maximize your space under the sink

Make-up organizer to organize your dressing table

Cutlery organizer for kitchen

Glass organizer for kitchen cabinet efficiently uses your cabinet space

Pantry organizers select whatever suits your cabinets

Weekend Step:

The fourth step is to immediately get rid of the cluttered items on the weekend. If you want to donate, go donate. If you want to sell, go online, advertise and sell. Don’t let these items pile up again otherwise, they will migrate back into your belongings and make your space dirty again and the job of decluttering will be more hectic and headache for you next time.

Digital Declutter:

In the last step, I would suggest decluttering your digital world, reducing your screen time, turning off unnecessary notifications, unsubscribing and unfollowing accounts that don’t add value to your life, and organizing your emails and desktop, to create a digital free zone time to cherish with real people that adds value to your life.

Choosing Your Decluttering Strategy:

Now what strategy you want to stick to is entirely up to you. Try what makes you enjoy your decluttering process. Some experts suggest decluttering room by room so as not to get exhausted. Some experts suggest tidying up by categories such as clothes, books, and so on. This category-wise tidying is called the KonMari Method. Some experts suggest a minimalist approach; the less the better. Work out on it to find what's best for you and begin your life.

“Life truly begins only after you have put your house in order.” – Marie Kondo

Decluttering Practices:

Decluttering is not a one-day task. It’s a lifetime task so maintain a routine of decluttering. Everyday 5 minutes, walk around your home and get rid of anything you don’t need. Also, you cannot do it in a day. Divide the tasks into manageable small tasks and start. Don’t get overwhelmed. Do decluttering with your loved ones or play music to enjoy this process. It’s a gradual process and it's okay to take your time therefore, stay focused and enjoy the benefits of a cluttered-free life
